A51 Developing Multi-Touch Screen Application for Corus Entertainment
October 18, 2010 — Contracted by Corus Entertainment, A51 will be building an interactive, easy–to–use, multi–touch screen application, to highlight Coru’s radio properties across Canada. The multi–touch screen application will be built using Adobe Air and Tuio, and will be displayed on a 52–inch screen to be a permanent fixture in the lobby of Corus Quay — Corus Entertainment’s new Canadian headquarters. Built on Toronto’s waterfront, the new building will house all current, Toronto–based operations, and over 1,100 Corus employees.
With the primary objective of usability, users will be able to easily direct the touch–screen functionality to navigate through a map of Canada to see information on each of Corus Entertainment’s 50 radio stations. The application will begin with a screen–saver that displays instructions and on first touch, users will be shown a map of Canada, which they will be able to drag and move around, and zoom into and out of with two fingers like they would on an iPad. Clicking on a highlighted city will identify the radio stations in that area. When a user chooses a specific radio station, the application’s functionality will allow the user to browse through the radio station’s website, live–stream the radio station, or do both. Users will be able to easily drag–and–drop both the music player and web site browser anywhere across the screen.
In addition to being able to navigate through the map, users will be given the option to browse through Corus radio stations by genre or province, which will then filter into the bottom section of the screen, to be scrolled through horizontally.
