September 1, 2011 — A51 Integrated was thrilled to be chosen to revamp the design and functionality of General Purpose Pictures’ corporate website, creating individually–branded views for each of the company’s television productions. Officially launching to the public in September 2011, the website expects to attract fans and potential television distributors. Recognizing the importance of reinvention and cross platform mobile–compatibility, A51 was contracted to develop a completely new General Purpose Pictures website in HTML5.
A51’s Lead Designer Steve Schoger, designed General Purpose’s website to, “showcase General Purpose Pictures’ playful and creative nature”. Photo images on the website are displayed as cardboard cut–outs, in keeping with General Purpose’s focus on lifestyle and home renovation programming. Complementary to the design, A51’s Front–End Developer Fabricio Medeiros added animations to each view and placed a small HTML5 video on General Purpose’s home page. The cross platform video player functions on all browsers and mobile devices, and continuously loops an animation of the General Purpose logo featuring the brand mascot ‘Sparky’.
In addition to the website’s redesign and development, A51 took search engine optimization (SEO) best practices into strict consideration and formulated the website content and a keyword–rich tagline. The end result is a website that has been meticulously designed and developed while maintaining the lighthearted style that exemplifies the General Purpose Pictures brand.
